The Lesson

In this short story it seems like all of the neighborhood kids despise Ms. Moore due to her desire to teach them lessons. They would rather play outside but she instead drags them all over the city and teaches them life lessons. What i find most interesting is that she isn't teaching them the generic things that one usually learns in school but rather street smarts in a sense. She is aware of the neighborhood that they live in and it seems that if she can get them to open their eyes a little wider to what lies beyond their neighborhood then it would change their mindset all together.

  1. I disagree. These kids are streetsmart. Miss Moore is trying to get them interested in getting an education by bringing them into this different world, the world of working people who can afford nice things because they have jobs and take care of themselves. These kids are living in the slums and have no perspective, no positive outlook on ever becoming anything great, anybody important. I believe the life lesson to learn here is to start thinking about what to actually do with your life and how to achieve that. This is what Miss Moore teaches Sylvia with her lesson.
